INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS
Silken tofu: For this hazelnut ice pop recipe, you’ll need silken tofu, also known as soft, silk, or Japanese-style tofu. Silken tofu has a much softer consistency than regular tofu and falls apart easily, which is exactly what we need in this case. That’s what makes it much easier to blend and turn very creamy and smooth.
Regular tofu won’t be a good substitute for silken tofu in this recipe. It completely changes the texture of the mixture, making the ice pops much more crumbly.
Hazelnut butter: When buying hazelnut butter, make sure it is made entirely from roasted hazelnuts without the addition of sweeteners or additives.
Instead, you can choose other plant-based spread options such as peanut butter or almond butter.
Maple syrup: Maple syrup is here to add a touch of sweetness to these nutritious hazelnut ice pops.
Instead of maple syrup you can go with other sweeteners such as date syrup.
